The skinny jean days are finally over

It may come as a shock to many of you but finally the staple of our wardrobe has been ousted and for once I agree! Although they did form a major part of my wardrobe and were versatile enough to wear with virtually anything and wear anywhere, no longer will I have to face myself in the mirror and feel vulnerable as my body shape is put on show for the world to see!

So, if they’re out, what’s in?

Well as any person who keeps an eye on fashion will know, the wheel is never reinvented. The styles and shapes are rarely new, they just come back in fashion with a little twist and so is the case for this season’s denim look.

Here’s four looks to keep an eye out this summer.

Recently introduced by Topshop the Editor jean style has been a huge success. It’s affordable and based on a straight-leg style, with a flattering high waist, and an up and down cut that normally finishes at the ankle. Flattering accompaniments are a long length shirt and of course a statement bag. Turn Up Jeans

As skinny’s are out, most other jean styles are making a comeback and turn up jeans are no exception. But now your turn ups should be turn up’s! Make them big and bold and wear them with pride. Turn up jeans are also not just to be saved for a straight leg style; they are now being added to wide leg jeans.

Better Boyfriend Jeans

Boyfriend jeans haven’t always been popular with the majority as they normally involve a low slung waist resulting in a bear mid-riff. If you don’t like exposing your flesh the better boyfriend jean style could be just up your street. The folded waist, baggy boyfriend jeans removes any uncomfortable skin exposure and are a great style that is exceptionally flattering.

Wide-Leg Jeans

And finally, the wide leg jean has made a comeback but there’s a little controversy as to whether they are culottes or wide leg jeans. After all wide leg jeans can be knee length as well so are they culotte’s are wide leg jeans? To be honest I’m don’t really care as the free and easy style is flexible and on point. So that’s the women sorted, what about men’s jeans?

Men’s Jeans

shutterstock_510909181Mirroring women’s fashion the skinny jeans look has been on the way out over recent months. There doesn’t seem to be any new or re-emerging styles coming through at the moment. So, for men it’s best to stick with what they know best. The slim fit is for many a staple in the wardrobe and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Dad’s jeans are also in and appeal to a certain audience who don’t like to wear clothes that hug their skin and prefer a looser fit. For colours and hues, you won’t go far wrong with a good old stonewash or mid-wash look.
