With classic car sales on the rise, it’s not surprising that car shows around the UK and abroad are on the rise. For those of us who can’t afford a classic car and for the owners who relish showing off their pride and joy, a classic car show is the perfect environment for enthusiasts to gather and talk about their passion.
If you haven’t yet decided which ones you’d like to attend, here’s 5 of the best for you to peruse.
The Silverstone Classic Weekend
26th – 28th July 2019
As one of the world’s best racing venues, Silverstone comes into its own during the Classic weekend. Over 100 car clubs attend which feature a jaw dropping 10,000 classic cars. There’s so much to see and do throughout the weekend you’ll be hard pressed to find any downtime for you and the family. There’s everything from interactive driving activities to live music concerts on Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as vintage fairs and a shopping village.
5th – 8th September 2019
Marketed as a luxurious garden party set against the backdrop of ‘Britain’s Greatest Place’, Salon Privé is a truly exceptional experience. Some of the rarest and most significant classic cars and motorbikes will be in attendance, competing to win the prestigious Chubb Insurance Concours d’Elégance, the country’s oldest and most exclusive classic car competition. As well as admire these fabulous cars you can also test drive supercars as well as admire the display of yacht’s, helicopters and luxury brands. And for the ladies attending on Boodle Ladies Day, make sure you’re dressed to impress, dress code is strictly glamorous, and hats are a must!
Concours of Elegance
6th – 8th September 2019
The Concours of Elegance began back in 2012 at Windsor Castle. Since then the show has been held at various places but from 2017 has settled at Hampton Court Palace and is likely to remain there for the next few years. A selection of 60 of the rarest cars from around the world will be brought together, many of which will take part in a 2 day driving tour in the days leading up to the event. Owners will be vying for the iconic ‘Best of Show’ award which is uniquely decided by the owners themselves instead of a judging panel. As well as the 60 rarest cars, hundreds of other cars will also be on display and you can also enjoy street food and luxury shopping.
13th – 15th September 2019
Many car enthusiasts would vote the Goodwood Revival as THE car show of the year. Over the weekend there are air displays, track parades, legendary racing as well as daily prizes for Best Dressed. Last year in one race alone, the cars taking part were valued at a total of over £100 million. It’s not for the faint hearted, and if you’ve ever dreamt of owning a brand new Ferrari this will certainly keep you dreaming.
